SAP goes Open Source!

At the end of  last year SAP decided to give his HTML5 libary "SAPUI5" to the public for free under the Apache 2.0 Open Source license.

http://sap.github.io/openui5/
UI5 lets you build enterprise-ready web applications, responsive to all devices, running on almost any browser of your choice. It’s based on JavaScript, using JQuery as its foundation and follows web standards. It eases your development with a client-side HTML5 rendering library including a rich set of controls and supports data binding to different models (JSON, XML and OData).

I see this as a big step into the right direction to bring this greate UI lib to the public community and get to know what is possible besides the enterprise app development.

Most of the innovations come from the community and this will be a win-win situation for both.

This blog will share some knowledge concerning HTML5 based ui development.

Let us start 2014 with this great offer from SAP using it with modern web based technologies like nodejs, mongodb and all the other great stuff available by the community.
